Beginning in the 16th century, mangos were gradually distributed around the world. Some other of them believe wild Mangoes have been cultivated in South Asia for thousands of years and reached East Asia between the fifth and fourth centuries BC. By the 10th century AD, cultivation had begun in East Africa. Cultivation came later to Brazil, the West Indies, and Mexico, where an appropriate climate allows its growth. The first view is popular and better known in other words wild mango grown in native regions of India.
India, it is known as king of fruits and is also the national fruit of India. In India, they believe that it was found by the sages who were traveling across the country. It is widely found in thick jungles and forests of India even today. Some biologists have explored fossils of mango trees that date back several thousand years. Some of the ancient paintings in temples of India depict the mango tree, the mango fruit and the leaves. Then Mango seeds have traveled with humans from Asia to the Middle East, South America and East Africa and around the world.
Now the mango is cultivated in most tropical and subtropical regions across the world.

Where is Mango Growing?

Mango is a wonderful fruit. Not only are they delicious, but they are also very easy to grow. The mango with the best quality usually grow and product in high heat, and can handle both humid/swampy and arid areas including India, Pakistan, Florida, Colombia, Mexico and etc.

How is Mango growing?

With a little time and patience, it is quite easy to grow a mango tree if we live in the tropical and subtropical regions because mango fruit grows well in regions with high heat, warm and direct sunlight. For this reason most mangoes are grown near the equator. The average temperatures should be of 80–100 °F (27–38 °C) so we should know mango tree can't live and grow cold winter. Also rainfall for your area should not exceed 12 inches (30.5 cm) per annum. Mangoes can be grown in one of two ways: via the seed of a mango, or from a grafted sapling. Mango seeds typically take 8 years to produce fruit, but may not if they haven’t been grafted. Grafted saplings take 3-5 years to produce fruit, but are nearly guaranteed a good harvest. Then your soil gets ready. Mangoes grow in loose, sandy soil that drains water easily. Prevent to use chemical fertilizers or any product that contains salt, as these will prevent the growth of your mango tree. Mango trees should typically be planted in late spring or the beginning of summer when it is a combination of rainy/sunny weather.

Mango Harvesting Time

There are kinds hundreds of mangoes in round the world that all of them are difference in color, shape, and size from species to species; you can’t tell if the fruit is ripe until you cut it open. You can get a general sense depending on how soft and fragrant it is, but should use a knife to sample the fruit. When the meat is yellow through to the core, it is ready to eat. If it is still very white and hard, then wait 1-2 weeks before testing it again. However you can attend the below notes:

  • The harvest season for mangoes ranges from the middle of the summer to the winter and the majority of mangoes will be ready for picking during the late summer and autumn.
  • Most mangoes are ready to be picked after 100 to 150 days following the trees blooming.
  • The interior flesh color is a better indicator. Fully ripened mangoes will have a yellow or orange interior.
  • Ripe mango fruit aroma is the best way for us.

How to Storage Mango

  • Not Yet Ripe

If we need to pick our mango fruit early for different reasons including exports or coming cold weather and etc. We can ripen green mango by keeping in a paper bag in room temperature for a few days. Also we should know green or partially ripe mangoes should be kept at 50 degrees Fahrenheit.

  • Ripe

When our mango is slightly softer or fully ripened we should keep it in the fridge. In this way we can keep it for 2–5 days but we should know the mangoes need to be stored at 55 degrees Fahrenheit because this fruit is easily spoiled.
