Herbalists classify pomegranate in the Puniceae family. It grows on shrubs or trees with 5-8 meter height and is multi stemmed. The blossoms are deep red in tubular calyx shape and are 3 cm in diameter. The leaves are narrow and 2-7 cm long. The flowers turn into a red fruit with a thick skin and a hexagonal shape containing a white spongy tissue and a lot of pink or red seeds with white solid cores in the middle. The seeds taste sweet, sour or mixed of both. The white peel is usually thrown away by people. The leaves are 3/8 to 4 inches long and in whorls.
